FORMS

In Tae Kwon Do each belt color one passes through has a form associated with
it. As one progresses in rank the forms get increasingly more indepth. The
Form shown above is one of the forms used in testing for second degree black
belt or 2nd dan. The forms are designed to teach one how to move fluently
through several different blocks, kicks and strikes. They also teach one
how to feel that the stance they are in, is proper for the technique being
used. As one approaches black belt and beyond, the difficulty and number of
forms you must learn to advance increases. Forms are helpful practice tools
as they are something you can be taught and then practice on your own. It
is helpfull with forms to envision an opponent so that the blocks and counter
strikes are not just movements but actual self defense techniques.
